Lehmann Bindery combines traditional craftsmanship with the modern concerns of conservation to produce bookbindings, book restoration and conservation boxes of the highest quality. We use traditional English and French techniques in our work. Only the finest materials available, leathers from France, England and Nigeria, hand beaten gold leaf, hand marbled papers from England, France, Italy and America and book cloths from Japan and Europe are used. Drawing from an extensive background in the history of bookbinding, our period style bindings are made using the same techniques as the original. Only where modern conservation practices dictate do we make adjustments. We have a large selection of historical gold finishing tools, allowing us to produce bindings for most time periods.

We also stock a select inventory of equipment and supplies for other bookbinders. Since our specialty is in traditional gold finishing, you will find that this section is emphasized and includes the finest new finishing tools available made by Alivon in Paris. We also carry a full range of wooden bookbinding presses made in Australia by Frank Wiesner, a Master woodworker trained in Germany.

If there is anything we can do to meet either your binding, restoration or supply needs, please do not hesitate to contact us either via email, post or telephone. The addresses and numbers are given above.

Yours Sincerely,
Frank Lehmann
